AUGUST. . . Roaring
20's Theme Night
We went way over and beyond our own expectations with the preparations
for this fundraising effort. Everything was organised with a great deal of
professionalism and frustration to boot. We had liability insurance and a
liquor license which was a first for our group, not to mention the fact that
we thought we'd never have it done before the actual day.
Members and their families came to help set up a fantastic looking hall, with fancy
dressed up tables, greenery in cardboard vases around the hall and even a cardboard
cut out scene on stage with vintage car, people and even a street lamp that actually went
and a jazzband on the other side. The food was prepared and the kitchen was buzzing, tables
prepared for the lay out and right down the other end of the hall we had a fully stocked bar
with fridges brought in. With time running out we dripped and drabbed back to our houses
for showers and returned dressed to the nines.
Our vintage cars were parked and ready for photos, with great thanks to the
Bayside Restorers club. Tautoko members were all gathering for their performance
which we greatly thank them for also and we had a few guests who had arrived early.
We dipped out pretty hard with a loss rather than a great profit, but all in all
we were totally proud of what we had accomplished and we did have fun even
though we were pretty down with a not so great attendance.

We
had vintage cars for our guests to have photos taken.
We had a game involving some candid posters of some of
our members
where the patrons had to correctly guess 4 of our crims in the hall
and collect a coloured ticket from each in order to claim a free drink.l
